Baboon Project Kenya recently Partnered with NCBA Bank Group to establish the Green Schools Project where we planted over 10,000 seedlings in 50 primary schools in Nakuru County under the Green Schools project
We are champions for wildlife and environmental justice, utilizing legal approaches to safeguard our natural resources from contamination. Recently, we submitted a legal petition that resulted in a ruling from the High Court of Kenya - Environment and Land Division, halting the county government's ongoing pollution of Lake Nakuru due to the release of raw untreated sewage.
Our initiatives include drilling boreholes and installing eco-friendly solar-powered water pumps to benefit both wildlife and park rangers. Additionally, we have implemented rainwater collection troughs to support wildlife during dry periods
We regularly carry out the removal and elimination of invasive, non-palatable plant species at Lake Nakuru National Park, which pose a threat to herbivore grazing forage. Additionally, we involve local communities in ongoing park clean-up initiatives.
We regularly track wildlife to monitor their movements and prevent them from leaving Lake Nakuru National Park. By inspecting the Electric DC pulse at the fence, we ensure that animals do not enter nearby communities, helping to reduce human-wildlife conflict effectively.
We host an annual family fun run marathon called the Lake to Lake Marathon, which takes place between Lake Nakuru and Lake Elementaita, both classified as UNESCO World Heritage Sites and Important bird habitats. This event serves as a platform for advocacy to raise awareness and educate the local community about the significance of conservation efforts.
